He sat in front of the table- they all sat in front of the long table. Ilia still puts up the candles in their crooked glory; the window, unable to be sealed, rattles on in the wind, yet the merry family pays it no heed. They turn to him, clapping and cheering in turn: "Kol hakavod! Kol hakavod!" Happy warmth seeps into his chest; he raises the silver fork, the replica of his raising of the candelabrum......
